Karunkuruvai Rice

Also referred to as Black Kuruvai Rice or Black Rice, this significant rice variety belongs to the kuruvai family and is traditionally cultivated during the kuruvai season, typically occurring from June to July. Siddha doctors often recommend this rice for its medicinal attributes. Notably rich in vitamin E and offering superior nutrition compared to both brown and white rice, it aids in the elimination of impurities and toxins from the body. Moreover, it contains phytochemicals that enhance immunity and stamina.

To prepare Chettinad Karunkuruvai Sweet:

1. Commence by soaking the rice in water for 30 minutes.
2. Subsequently, grind it into a fine paste.
3. Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan.
4. Incorporate the paste and sugar, stirring continuously for 10 minutes.
5. Lastly, add salt and grated coconut to the mixture.
6. Your sweet delicacy is now ready for consumption.
